Professionals & Skilled Workers

FEDERAL SKILLED WORKER-FSW

The federal skilled worker class is a class of persons who may become permanent residents of Canada on the basis of their ability to become economically established in Canada and who intend to reside in a province other than the Province of Quebec.

Foreign Nationals who apply for Canadian Permanent Residence under the skilled worker category are first considered under the Federal Skilled Worker Category. This is the most competitive category which selects only the highest ranking applicants in the Express Entry pool. Foreign nationals selected under the Federal Skilled worker class have the privilege to land and live anywhere in Canada, except Quebec.  Applicants applying under the Federal Skilled Worker class are assessed in following six selection factors:

  • Education
    Age
    Experience
Language Skills in one of Canada’s two official languages
    Job Offer
  • Adaptability

These factors are part of a 100-point grid used to assess eligibility for the Federal Skilled Worker Program. You earn points for how well you do in each of the 6 factors.

The current pass mark is 67 points, however, scoring 67 points does not guarantee selection. Applicants have to compete in Express Entry pool in order to receive an invitation to apply for PR.
