Canadian PR Card Renewal
Canadian PR Card is valid for 5 years. You can apply to renew it upto 6 months before expiry.
You should apply to renew your PR card if:
-
- It’s expired or will expire in less than 6 months.
-
- It’s lost, stolen, or damaged.
-
- You need to update personal details (e.g. legal name change).
You need to be in Canada to apply for renewal of your PR card.
Applicants outside Canada whose PR card is expired, need to apply online for PRTD (Permanent Resident Travel Document). PRTD is a Travel Authorization / Visa which allows Permanent Residents to return to Canada, if they are eligible for PRTD (Have met Residence Obligation of 730 days in last 5 years) or have other considerable factors.
If your PRTD application is denied, your Permanent Residence will be revoked, in which case you will have the option of appealing the decision in Immigration Appeal Division (IAD).
If you are in such a situation, Please book a FREE INITIAL CONSULTATION Meeting with Licensed Canadian Immigration Consultant RCIC-IRB and discuss your matter.
A wrong PRTD submission by yourself can affect your future appeal application to IAD.
